What works

  • Genuinely matte finish that lasts through humid afternoons
  • No white cast on medium and deep Indian skin tones
  • Sits well under a beard and does not pill
  • SPF 50 with PA++++ for strong UVA protection

What doesn't

  • Pricier per gram than budget options
  • Can feel slightly drying on dry skin in winter
  • Small tube runs out fast if you apply the correct amount

Sunscreen only works if you wear it, and oily-skinned men abandon sunscreen for one reason: it makes them look like they have been dipped in ghee. Re’equil’s Ultra Matte Dry Touch formula promises to fix that.

How we tested

We used it every morning for four weeks in October in Delhi, at two finger-lengths per application, over a gel moisturiser. We reapplied on outdoor days and wore it under a two-week beard and on clean-shaven days.

Texture and finish

It goes on as a thin, slightly silky fluid and sets to a soft matte finish in about a minute. By 3 pm on a 34°C day, shine was noticeably lower than with a standard lotion sunscreen. There was no white cast on medium-brown skin, and it did not catch in beard hair.

Protection

SPF 50 is the highest label rating allowed in many markets, and PA++++ is the top tier for UVA protection, which matters for tanning and long-term ageing. No sunscreen is waterproof, so reapply after sweating heavily.

Who should buy it

Oily, combination and acne-prone skin, especially in humid cities. Dry skin will prefer a dewier formula in winter.
